How hot/cold is a 'prewash'?

I've looked in the manual and googled but can't find it. The machine is an AEG washer dryer if that makes a difference.

You can't set up programs to follow on from one another (except wash then dry) so I want to know whether I can do 'cottons+prewash' (which is one programme) then press the button for an extra rinse after it's finished, which is less hassle than setting a cold rinse, then going back to set the wash, then going back to set another rinse.

Basically, is a prewash cold like a rinse or is it hot?

Prewash is usually cold.

Your manual may include electricity usage for different wash cycles. Almost all the electricity is used for heating, so cold cycles will have a very low figure.

Oh that's a good tip-I'll have another look at the manual, thanks! I hope it's cold. Going back to the machine to add another program constantly is a pain in the neck!

Just looked-annoyingly it does list energy consumption but only for the main washing cycles.

Do a prewash, and keep putting your hand on the porthole to see if it heats up.

Sometimes you can hear a heating element "singing" like a kettle when it gets hot, especially in hard water areas.

Good plan-I'll do that. I've never noticed a singing noise but it's supposed to be a super quiet machine anyway so that may be why.
