Ecover dishwasher tabs ruined my machine

So annoyed. I brought ecover dishwasher tablets as thought I'd give them a go. I usually use Persil or fairy depending on what's on offer.

Put the first load on and when finished the inside of the dishwasher and the items inside covered in a fine powdery sticky residue. Thought I must have put wrong cycle on so put it on again. Still there.

Hand washed all the items and then checked salt and rinse aid were topped up, both fine. Put dishwasher on empty to try and clear it but residue still there. Brought dishwasher cleaner those pods you put in the cutlery tray nope still there used the second one in the pack again still there. Googled how to clean dishwasher it said to put a squeeze of washing up liquid and run hot cycle. Did this and the residue still there.

Even using the steam cleaner barely touched it and have had to throw several items away as the residue wouldn't come off.

I've emailed ecover bit no reply, will call on Tuesday if no reply by then. I have no idea what to do, the baskets are covered in it and too big to fit in the sink for a soak, plus if a steam cleaner couldn't shift it what chance does a bit of fairy and a scourer got (which I have already tried)

Weird, we have used Ecover tabs for yrs without any such issues. And we don't any of the filter clearing OP describes.

Agree that Ecover dishwasher and washing machine products aren't very effective. Similar with Method washing machine products. They just don't do the job.

Though I do use ecover delicate clothing handwash liquid, and that's quite nice.

the machine did eventually come clean, I used soda crystals sprinkled liberally in the bottom and it removed he greasy residue leaving it with just a fine powdery coating that I blasted off with the steam cleaner, so at least once my new one comes I can freecycle this one as still life left in it.

I checked all the filters regularly as it is an older machine and not a great make, I've never even heard of the make, I think it was one of those specials places like currys have where they are randomly cheap. I've been meaning to buy a new one as as silly as it sounds this one I silver and was given to us, when we moved and all other appliances are white and I wanted them to match Blush

I've used ecover lots of time before, I like the washing up liquid for hand washing plates and glasses and the fabric conditioner, also the multi surface cleaner for wiping down the sides after food prep, but I'm going to consider other options now and probably just buy aldi's or own brand of which supermarket I am in, unless a branded product is on offer.
