Is your heating on? On 5 May?

Loulou000 · 05/05/2014 20:13

After all these years I still can't get my head round the fact DH wants the heating on so much more than me. E.g. Every morning before we get up, even on sunny days in May like today. And he still wants the underfloor heating on in the kitchen. Is this normal? Am I too stingy or warm blooded?

I put it on for about 15 mins this evening because I was wearing a big warm jumper and was still chilly. Don't routinely have it on at this time of year, although it does sometimes tick on in the morning if it's cool enough.

SuperFlyHigh · 05/05/2014 21:25

yes. cold.

newlark · 05/05/2014 21:42

Yes, I feel the cold and, if the thermometer in the house gets down to 18, I am wearing a fleece and fingerless gloves indoors much to dh's amusement as he doesn't feel the cold. I like room temperature to be 20 degrees (still need a jumper on at that)

NoArmaniNoPunani · 05/05/2014 21:43

No way. Off in march, back on October or November

Mitchy1nge · 05/05/2014 21:48

yes but it's really fucking cold

also central heating is still a daring new thing in our house, only had it for about a year, love it

ophiotaurus · 05/05/2014 21:49

Yes. In Scotland.

MrsCripps · 05/05/2014 21:51

No - went off in January

MirandaWest · 05/05/2014 21:52

I have the thermostat at 16. Think it's been on occasionally in the past asks or so.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/05/2014 21:54

No but I wear thermals so I'm toasty.

WeAllHaveWings · 05/05/2014 21:54

Yes. Scotland. Cold in the evenings, but had all office windows open today (as building heating is still set to winter)

Mitchy1nge · 05/05/2014 22:02

it says it is 11c outside in Suffolk

it feels fucking cold to me

ChubbyKitty · 05/05/2014 22:04

Yes. Apparently it's 16c here.

My left boob it isHmm

MrsBungle · 05/05/2014 22:07

No, heating has not come on for at least a month. It's on a thermostat set at 16. If I'm chilly I put a jumper on! I'm in the East Midlands.

Betrayedbutsurvived · 05/05/2014 22:08

See, I don't get this. Our heating comes on if the temperature is less than 18 degrees. Doesn't matter if it's July or December. If it's cold, it's cold. End of!

Dumplings4ever · 05/05/2014 22:09

OMG - What a bunch of wusses!!!!

There needs to be ice on the inside of the windows and the animal water troughs must be frozen over before the heating goes on in our house.

Us Yorkshire folks are hardy and miserly souls!!!!

I AM wearing lots of layers already

and a dressing gown

don't know how I coped for so many years without any heating Confused but I have noticed that when everyone else is wearing short sleeves I'm still in some sort of jacket or coat, it must be because am in the autumn of life or something?

LaurieFairyCake · 05/05/2014 22:20

Since I moved in October to a house with cavity wall insulation it was only on a dozen times during winter. It's 21 degrees in here right now.

MardyPants · 05/05/2014 22:32

Nope. But it is an ongoing battle in the Mardy house.

MARDY - always bloody warm, no matter what, describes the temp in the house as 'stifling' (housemate would call it 'not so hot' at the same time)

Vs.

THE HOUSEMATE - always bloody cold, no matter what, generally found loitering about wearing dressing gown over whatever clothes he's worn that day!

So I turn it off as often as he turns it on, the poor heating probably doesn't know whether it's coming or going. (I turned it off this morning, it was mysteriously on at 630pm, I turned it off again and opened the window!)

Loulou000 · 06/05/2014 15:23

Really interesting to read all your replies! And I have to admit that DH may not be as weird as I generally think. On this issue, anyway.

FreckledLeopard · 06/05/2014 15:25

I switched mine off about 10 days ago, but it's still a bit chilly. I've taken to lighting the woodburner during the evening, and wearing a fleece!

Fourarmsv2 · 11/05/2014 20:50

I use a little oil radiator if I want to take the chill off one room instead of heating the whole house. We have electric blankets for our beds.
