Is it possible to go from lazy housewife to perfect housewife?

OK, never been one for the housework, my house is clean, but very untidy and cluttered.

Caught the end of one programme "anthea turner - desperate housewife" and something clicked in my head, I definately had something in common with one of the women, I tidied around like a whirlwind before DH came home, he ended up doing most of the housework, it gets embarrassing when people phone up and want to visit and I have to rush around and tidy up crap.

Anyway I decided I want to give cleaning a real go, and sad to admit that some of anthea's tips really got me excited to actually tidy (the t-shirts and folding towels), I really feel this time as I can achieve it, I have learnt ways to declutter rather than moving stuff around, I know is sounds barking but I have a box int he living room of about 15 pictures that will never get hung, but I dont want to throw, so I have taken anthea's tip and thrown all the frames (well charity bin) and put all the pictures in a album, it sounds daft that I never even thought about it myself.

But after 20 odd years of mess and chaos, is it possible to actually change, I really feel determined and confident, dh thinks its funny and wonders how long it will last.

Any converts out there?

I have always been messy and everyone despaired of me but I have renovated a few properties for selling while living in them and had to get rid of clutter and keep the house so tidy that I have got used to it and find it more relaxing when it is tidy.It really is a matter of doing one huge de clutter and a major clean and then doing bits daily.I'm no Martha stewart but I do feel less mentally cluttered when I get rid of all the clutter

You might be interested in the Anthea Turner thread or possibly the FLYlady one .

And Martha Stewart is an American homemaking/cooking/decluttering etc guru - sort of a cross between Delia Smith, Anthea Turner and Jane Asher.
