Where do you buy your towels

and how do you keep them soft and fluffy?

I'm looking for affordable towels as ours are all threadbare and not at all fluffy- in fact they are beginning to feel like drying off with sandpaper. I need loads so cheap is good but I want them to be nice.

Is the only way to keep them fluffy using a tumble dryer?

John Lewis or The White Company

They stay fluffy if they go in the drier and crispy if out on the line. I don't mind either

Christy towels are lovely. I also find that BHS has always one lovely quality towels.

Usually John Lewis but my friend brought me some from the white company for a house warming present and they are still fluffy as anything 3 years down the line.

The nicest one I have is a Ralph Lauren one though- my "luxury" towel :D

Following a small fire I had to replace all our towels in one go on a very small budget (under insured ) I bought John Lewis seconds. Still big a fluffy but minor imperfections such as a slightly wonky seam, not exact 90degree corner. You can't tell unless looking closely, but were about 60% cheaper than the perfect ones.

We have a mix of Tesco, JL & Argos, about 2-3 years old now, I keep nice and fluffy by putting a bit of clear vinegar in the wash with them really does work

My towels are all from Primark and Ikea and are going strong 4 years on! The Primark ones are still very fluffy in particular.

Fabric softener and tumble dryer here all the way! They get washed at 40/60

Best towels I've ever had were from Cath Kidston, the velour ones, and lasted years and years.

No fabric conditioner, but I do tumble dry them.

most are about 10-15 years old and look ok. have just got another set, but they have not yet lost their shop-fluffyness, which also means that they shed fluff like crazy and don't absorb water very well.

atm we have crispy towels, as no dryer.
if you have a dryer, just put them in for 20 min before hanging out, they will then be nice and fluffy.

TX Maxx always seem to to have lots of towels with significant reductions including Christy towels, which I what I tend to buy.

My dd went on a pgl with school last term and needed towels.
Mine were a gift and so I bought some from a dry cleaners.
They do all the linen and towels for hotels in the area, but the hotels won't have them back if they have a small pull for example.

I was so impressed with the quality, I have bought some for the house.
Bath sheet size, hotel quality for 50p each!

So really I need a tumble dryer. That's a whole new thread but the only place I have room is the garage. Is that really dangerous?

I just realised that all our towels are over ten years old! They're christy seconds and John Lewis and I think they are great. Have just bought cheaper asda ones for new shower room, though, and they also seem fine. Tumble drying, even for a little fluff up is the answer. If I dry them completely on the line they are as stiff as a board.

When we first moved into our apartment we didn't have much, MIL bought us some bright blue towels from god knows where.

Now every single time I clean the bathroom there's fluff and bits everywhere. It's really annoying. You can't see them until you clean

IKEA and JL, JL only a little bit nicer than Ikea.
I cannot recommend dark blue towels, they shed fluff for ages.

agree on the dark coloured towels.
have just received a bale of nice turqoise towels as a gift from my lovely mil and they are still shedding and leaving turqoise dust about 10 washes in.
