They're here - sound interesting, but would they just batter your clothes too much, do you think?

I've heard that putting tennis balls in the wash is recommended for heavier items and for quilts etc to stop them bunching up, would be interesting if those things work on normal clothes! I'd be game to try them!

Been surfing for washing balls (after a friend recommended the Lakeland ones) and this thread came up. I thought I?d revive it, and re-ask if anyone has used the Dolly Washer Balls?

The reason I ask is although I like the sound of the Wash-It Ball and the Ecoballs I have read that using no detergent at all may reduce a washing machine?s life or cause extra repairs. (In summary, advice on Washerhelp says using no detergent may be problematic because detergent holds dirt in the water and stops it redepositing on clothes and in the tub and hoses. Also, it says ?bacteria needs to be killed and prevented from multiplying, this is achieved by bleaches in detergent. Black mold and its spores can otherwise colonise a washing machine.?

Would the Dolly Washer Balls be better value if you still have to do a detergent wash every now and then to save your machine?
