Help - cleaning bathroom floor problem

The bathroom floor in our new house is mainly white tiles with little black diamonds dotted among them. Whatever I do with it it is impossible to make it look clean. I sweep and leave bits behind, I hoover (sorry Dyson) and leave bits behind. When I mop it all I succeed in doing is moving the bits of hair etc to a new location. I also find that if I manage to tread on a bit that is the tiniest bit wet I get a wopping great footprint and all I'm wearing is slippers. Is there a bathroom floor expert or other light coloured floor expert out there who can help me?

annoying isn't
I've got a white tiled kitchen floor (was here when we moved in ) and its a nightmare as well. The only way I can clean it is to use a hoover with the hard floor attchment on,then using an old muslin square to wash the floor gathering any missed bits up and rinsing the cloth.I just used flash in the hot water. If i use a mop it just spreads the bits out.

if it's a small bathroom (ours has less than 6x6ft of floor), sweep and/or pick up the hairballs every day and then do it on hands and knees with a cloth and a bowl of hot water once a week, working out the door so you end up kneeling on the landing to do the last bit.

I find mops are crap too.

ah, the microfibre mop

mine was £2 in a pound-type shop

my life is a different place with it

just swish it about a bit, damp, takes 1.5 mins

lovely

Have you tried a microfibre mop ? No guarantee it'll work for you, it just seems to work better than an ordinary one.

Snap cappuccino.

like this \link{http://www.paragonmicrofibre.com/mops.htm/but cheaper}

MrsBadger · 24/08/2006 16:41

ooh
may need to investigate
to be fair I use a microfibre cloth for my hands-and-knees efforts because if its superior hair-grabbing properties so am halfway there already...

oooh MrsB I never thought I'd impress you

'Manhattan' mops are great for tiled floors, and wooden floors too.
I use it dry, then use a regular mop afterwards and no longer have the problem of leftover bits of fluff etc.

Thank you all - this all looks very promising - I definitely need something with "hair grabbing" qualities!!
