Cleaning the carpet the good old fashioned way

When I was wee my mum had a good stiff carpet brush, can you still buy such a thing?

I'm talking about a little thin, almost sharp edged brush, what I want it for is getting into the corners (not sweeping the whole floor, I'm not that keen!) because even the wee nozzle attachment on my otherwise fantastic Dyson doesn't quite get the dust out from where the carpet meets the skirting board.

can I take the silence to mean that no one knows where I can get such a thing?

I just use the brush from the dustpan and brush set. The bristles are quite stiff. Also I use my hand with rubber washing up gloves on. It rolls up the dust and fluff really well.

There is an old fashioned brush shop at the top of the Grassmarket opposite the tattoo place.

sorry, I googled it and it has closed down. Try some of the more old fashioned type ironmongers and they might have something.

I don't know which brush you are talking because I use a bio chemical product to clean my carpet.

maybe cleaning the carpet was a bit of a strong word, it's more like getting the dust out of the corners that the vacuum doesn't work for.

I think I need something quite small. After I posted this, it suddenly occurred to me that maybe a pet shop could be a good option, as I think they sell brushes for gathering up pet hair. Maybe they'd work for general hair & dust etc...?

I am using rubber brush to ease pets hair off the carpet.

I am not sure that you need brush where vacuum's nozzle should do - look at John Lewis brushes - there are loads to choose from.
