The riviting subject of... Pegs..

We don't have an outside washing line due to living in a flat, but have one of those not sturdy airers that we can fold flat, which is perfect for inside out flat but I try and shove it outside in the summer!
I've been using pegs to keep the clothes on but obviously due to the way I have to hang the clothes over the airer the pegs are leaving marks in the middle of my dds tops, and if I don't peg them then the wind blows them off my airer!!!

So.. Is there any sort of pegs that I can use in the middle of tops, instead of the shoulders/ bottoms, that won't leave shiny peg marks? :/

These Lakeland soft grip pegs

You can get soft grip pegs from homebase

Alternatively hang the washing over and then peg the clothes along the sides of the clothes rather than on the top of the rail

Aha okay, the soft grip pegs look good!! Are all soft grip pegs equal meaning I can pop into town and buy wilkinsons ones or am I better off ordering the Lakeland ones?

sorry to be so dull on a Tuesday morning!

I have one of these. I put damp shirts etc on plastic hangers and hang them on it, outdoors, sometimes with a big plastic peg over the hanger if it's windy. DH suggested sliding a double wound (i.e. robust) elastic bands on the hanging rail before you assemble it (and leaving them there permanently) so you can put the hook of the hanger under it so it can't blow off. But if you use this method instead of an airer, not only do you not get that peg mark, it also considerably reduces ironing!

I peg along the seams and/or at the bottom of the garment. Why do you need to put the pegs in the middle of the garments?

I have some soft grip pegs from tesco and they still leave marks so maybe they are not all the same :(

BikeRunSki · 15/04/2014 16:50

I have the Tesco ones as well as the Lakeland ones. Lakeland ones much better.

Our clothes airer is like this, so no choice really but to hang clothes over with equal amounts on each side?

I don't iron anything..

My dp bought some wilkos soft pegs, I can see just by looking at them they will be crap, have ordered Lakeland!!!
