Am I being dense, or do Lakeland really not sell...

Food flasks. My DSs go back to school tomorrow, and the tyranny of making packed lunchs begins. I'm really lucky, cos they'll eat anything I give them, and they both like "leftovers" too, but rather than give them cold spag bol or cold curry and rice, I'd like to heat it up in the morning, or make soup, and let them have a hot lunch. I got cheap food flasks from tesco last year, but by lunchtime the food was lukewarm. I've looked on the Lakeland website, and can't see any. There were a couple on Amazon, but they've stopped selling them too. Can anyone recommend any that will keep things warm till lunchtime?

you are being dense

foxinsocks · 20/08/2006 15:43

I saw these in the great little trading company website

they are called thermal snack jars

SecurMummy · 20/08/2006 15:44

CD, aren't they drink flasks rahter than food flasks though? I thought food ones had wider tops?

CountessDracula · 20/08/2006 15:44

lakeland sell something similar here

foxinsocks · 20/08/2006 15:45

(did you go to the new stadium yesterday Countess?)

CountessDracula · 20/08/2006 15:45

oh sorry i didn't know there was a difference!

Maybe those second ones are what mrsmuddle needs?

CountessDracula · 20/08/2006 15:45

I did it was very exciting. Our new seats are fantasic!

SecurMummy · 20/08/2006 15:46

That's them! I was interested as I saw them last year but not htis year, dd1 loves soups and things but I always make them with lots of big stuff in so drink flasks are no good!

foxinsocks · 20/08/2006 15:46

which stand are you in?

ds has gone to his first game today with dh (he was soo excited, I couldn't get him to sleep last night!)

SecurMummy · 20/08/2006 15:47

Oh CD - where do you life again... hang on, will email you!

SecurMummy · 20/08/2006 15:48

Clearly I do not mean life sorry!

CountessDracula · 20/08/2006 15:51

We are in the Orange Quadrant lower tier, 17 rows back level with the 9 yard box but pointing in towards the opposite corner. Fantastic seats, the view is amazing and the atmosphere brilliant (a load of our mates went for the prawn sarnie seats in teh middle of the upper tier but we wanted to be down and dirty with the singing etc)

foxinsocks · 20/08/2006 15:56

looks v impressive on tv - I imagine most seats have good views (the joys of a new stadium!). Much more fun to be in with the passionate fans than the prawn sarnies!

foxinsocks · 20/08/2006 15:57

17 rows back is just far enough back to get a good pitch view I imagine

CountessDracula · 20/08/2006 16:07

Yes I wouldn't want to be much further down. The view from the top tier is unbelivable though.

Do you go?

foxinsocks · 20/08/2006 16:15

yes we have 2 season tickets in the matthew harding lower

however, now that ds is old enough to go to games (he's 4, 5 in Nov) I have a feeling that it will start getting tricky as to who lays claim to the 2 tickets! Dd is so far totally disinterested in the football.

MrsMuddle · 20/08/2006 16:17

Thanks, ladies. Foxinsocks, that's the kind of thing I'm looking for, but with a bigger capacity. DS1 is taller than me, and is always "starving" when he comes home, so the plan was to give him a more substantial lunch. What I'd like is a combination of the two you suggested - a pot shape, rather than the narrow necked flask, but with the flask's capacity. I don't ask for much, do I?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 20/08/2006 16:19

yes you really need to see them don't you. It says it has 290ml capacity which sounds quite big? it's hard to tell isn't it!

A few on ebay

princessmel · 02/09/2006 20:51

Ok, its my turn to be thick now. Is it ok(safety/food hygene wise) to keep the food hot all the morning till lunch?

JanH · 02/09/2006 20:55

My turn to be thick - is there a Matthew Harding stand in the new Arse stadium or am I missing something?

MrsMuddle · 02/09/2006 21:26

Thank you. I got the Thermos ones off ebay, and they're great. So far my DSs have had leftover spaghetti carbonara and leftover aubergine bake for lunches, and they've stayed piping hot. Just for info, I went into Lakeland and various camping shops, and they've all discontinued them. Don't know why, but I can thoroughly recommend the Thermos ones. Princess Mel, I'm sure it's fine to keep food this long as long as it's really hot to start with. Also, we have cast-iron constitutions in this house - probably because housework's not my strong point. I'm sure that's why our immune systems are so strong. Thank you Milliec and Gillian76.

Mathew Harding was a director at Chelsea who died in a helicoptor crash so i would be doubtfull of their beinga stand dedicated to him at Arsenal

rustybear · 02/09/2006 21:54

The Matthew Harding stand is at Stamford Bridge (Chelsea, so I assume foxinsocks is a Chelsea fan, . It's Countess dracula who is the arsenal fan (Emirates stadium)
