Am I mad to want a twin tub?

I have a bit if an obsession with finding a second hand twin tub at the moment. I have a very reliable automatic but I find I just can't wash enough stuff at once or do enough loads a day to keep the laundry pile down.
If I had an old fashioned twin tub I could do all the bedding and towels for instance in one go, not to mention actually getting the mud out of DS's rugby kit.
It would suit my way of working to do a big laundry session one morning a week and get everything out on the line ( spin speed much faster in twin tubs too).
I did use one in a student flat so have previous experience.
If anyone has one to sell in the central belt of Scotland let me know !

I flooded the kitchen more than once with my twin tub, it had a space for a hose pipe to rinse the washing in the spinner, I'd get distracted with dd instead of standing over it😄I answered a knock at the door one day, "Do you know there's water running out of your door and down the street?"

Since moving to the US we got a Top loading washer, sooo much better than the one we had in England.

We have a house in the States which has a top loader. It is so vastly superior to our brand new, hi-spec washing machine here. Loads take no time at all and you can get about 3 times as much in and everything comes out gleaming.

I'd have one here like a shot if I had the room.

I've considered a twin tub too.

I have a spin dryer & love it. Dh thinks when I get a tumble dryer I will bin the spin dryer but it's not happening.

You're not mad to want one at all. I am currently searching for one of the old hoover ones. They are fantastic. My mother still uses her and has never had an automatic machine.

Oh that takes me back! LOL, memories of mum starting the spin cycle and it sounding like it was going to explode if you hadn't stacked it right then it would make its way across the floor. I will say though, for towels/sheets/heavy weight stuff the spin speed was fantastic, it would come out practically dry after about 90 seconds. You did have to iron it though, the creases were unbelievable - no straight back on the bed!

For some reason she stopped using the wash bit, but we had a big deep double sink so stuff would be soaked in there or in basins then rinsed and put through the spinner! For years mum insisted that this was less work than an automatic, even though it generated enough steam you could wipe the walls down afterwards.
