Storing old baby clothes

What do you use?

I want to sort clothes into age ranges and pack away into the loft.

First I had them in those vaccum bags, but they were so big and cumbersome and a fiddle to get things out of a friend suggested using the old nappy boxes (jumbo packs) and put the clothes in there. They're not really a great shape and to get things out of the bottom is a hassel too!

Soooo, I was going to get some vinyl storage bags from Argos, but thinking about it I already have some canvas ones and they're really floppy even when full, so I would guess the vinyl ones are similar and all the clothes could get jumbled when carted up into the loft.

Any other bright suggestions? TIA

PS. Don't want to get rid of anything just yet!

see through plastic crates with lids from ikea. Also some white cardboard boxes from same. See through good idea. I also have individual age ranges in clear bags within the boxes if there is a crossover i.e. newborn and 0-3 months. To prove how completely anally retentive I am I also sort by neutral/sex and tie one item of clothing to the outside of the bag so you can easily identify age.

mrs apron - did you go to antheas school

i too use the ikea boxes and they look quite nice stacked in my spare room.

but there is a stage when you really cant keep everything and i have donated alot to my local womens aid.

but also thinking of doing a kids clothes swap this autumn amongst a group of us.

I have found myself nodding along with her I am shamed to say....

I have just rehoned my storage as I sorted through for my new one coming(3 weeks to go).

I use large clear plastic boxes and label each one on the side and lid with the size.

Thanks. Thought about the boxes but they're quite expensive aren't they? But then again if they do the job... How much were they in Ikea?

I'ev got an underbed seethrough box on little casters for clothes to be grown into.
I've got outgrown clothes (favourites not for selling) in an old sports holdall waiting for someone deserving to have a baby boy (best friend just had my girl bag for her new baby).
Things in really good nick that I don't love get sold at NCT Sales and anything else goes to a local family poverty resource. Our new loft is fairly inaccessible and TBH quite scary so it's been quite easy to sort through everything and minimise it for storage in the kids' rooms.
