Cleaning metal grease filters from cooker hood

Anyone tried putting filters in oven (100-120 degrees) to melt the grease out? Just read it on a website - wouldn't the plastic bit you use to fix it back into place melt too? Really don't want to wreck them at £40 quid a pop! TIA.

You put them in the dishwasher on their own and that does the trick. Check only metal goes in though.

Normal washing powder (bio) works fab. Dissolves the grease then stick in dishwasher for a good clean.

I put mine in the dishwasher and they tarnished so be wary of that

Now, I soak them in bio washing powder and boiling water

I put them through the DW, on the top rack and on the lower temp setting, they come out lovely and clean.

I also put them in the dishwasher. Come up lovely they do.

Dishwasher here too!

I must have just been very unlucky

Oxidised grease goes gummy and hardens into varnish, so I wouldn't expect it to melt and run off.

I soaked mine in the sink with a half a cup of soda crystals and two kettles of boiling water, for 20 mins. Worked a charm! Mine were revolting - I don't think they'd been cleaned for 5 years by the previous tenants.

Dishwasher here, I just shove them in with everything else.
