Anyone had new double glazing fitted

We are thinking about getting new UPVC windows fitted, we stay in a modern house with standard size windows (11 in total) I want darkwood outside and white inside. I haven't got a clue how much it will cost and we need to save first so don't want to start talking to window companies as I know I won't be able to get rid of them once I start. So I was wondering if anyone had replaced windows recently and could give me a approx price per window fitted to start with.

I think they have to be the same colour inside and out. I mean, its all one casement, if you see what I mean.

we had ours replaced 2 yrs ago. Cant say per window but we had 10 windows put in and sliding patio doors where dining window was. Cast us around £8000 using one of the better companies in the area as they guaranteed agains discolouration and sagging.

Meant to add you can get the two different colours ut it costs more.

We're in the process of having ours done. They're being made as we type lol.

We're having a new door, a bay window and 2 upstairs windows which are the same size replaced. Its costing us just under £1.5k which is really cheap but luckily we know the guy doing it hence the price.
We had some companies out to do quotes and they were all around £3k so we're getting half the price.

From what I gathered, you can have any colour anywhere. You can virtually pick everything down to the colour of the door and window handles. Like Nemo said it'll probably cost a bit more.

do you know any builders or can anyone recommend for you. UPVC windows are relatively cheap its the installing that costs

flack · 04/08/2006 18:59

We have just had 12 windows installed for £4.2k. Once we decided, we just rang back to the others to say we had already decided so we never felt pestered.

We found local companies were often a lot better than national companies. The bigger companies also had a sales pitch where they would stay for hours trying to get you to sign. The smaller companies didn't.

Try Checkatrade here for local reputable companies.

We had new windows and two doors (for a 4 bed house) fitted a couple of years ago and went with a local company. I got three quotes before deciding which one to go with - cost was about 8k I think. We chose aluminium rather than uPVC as I have an aversion to plastic windows and are really pleased with them. The company gave a ten year guarantee and came out only the other day to sort out the front door which had been sticking, all for free.
