Just ordered a Miele Cat and Dog hoover- Stupidly excited!

Just that really, after reading eviews and threads on here, decided to take the plunge and buy the Miele cat and dog hoover. I have a Henrietta and a Dyson but the Dyson does clog up no matter what the advert tells you and have had he engineer out so many times. Expensive piece of junk! Henrietta is a rather fetching pink and tackles most things but just need something wih that bit extra for the carpets upstairs and on the stairs (hard fllooring downstairs) as even though the dogs don't go upstairs, its enevitable that with a black Labrador that hair gets trodden upstairs.

Hope it lives up to my expectations. I found it on Amazon or £169, could have got it from John Lewis for £210 with with my sisters staff discount but decided I'd go cheaper and not worry about the 2yr JL warrantee.

Please report back - I had a Miele but it was crap on dog hair.

I loves mine. Two cats (one long-haired), 2 DDs and one MNetter with long hair in the house and it works like a dream, on carpets and hard floors. The brush does get clogged with hair but my weird DH quite likes to cleaning it out so that's OK (and it doesn't take much time at at all). I have the cylinder one.

It's this one so slightly different, although the co op one is more powerful. hmmmm wonder if I've ordered the right one now.

Wooo we just got one last month. DH does the hoovering in our house and when he tried it for the first time he did a little 'pleasure' sigh.

We've had one for a few years and it's AMAZING! We have a cream rug and a long haired black cat. Before the Hoover the rug would always look dirty and I'd have to get on all fours with a lint roller to make it look half decent. The Miele was a life changer!

DLTGYD I would swap for the co op version if you can. I think it is the older model but I have had both and the S5261 is better and the GN bags hold a lot more than the FJM bags. I think the S6220 doesn't have a small turbo brush either which is really useful for dog hair on the stairs.

We have two Mieles one for upstairs and one down. We love ours. Even my son enjoys vacuuming and sometimes gives the house a good clean.

You will be so happy you chose it. I have a light and a heavier model and both are brilliant, you are right to be exited! :)

anchovies- I might get both downstairs I hard floors so not too important, except for the rug in the lounge. the black Labrador hair just dust balls everywhere, and shows up on the cream limestone floors. but I can clean it with the usual henry fine.

Its the stairs, landing and bedroom carpets, they are a mid beige colour and look horrible as black dog hair stuck in them. with the henry I have to get down on my hands and knees with just the hose and hoover with the small hose and no attachments. as you can imagine that's a bit of a nightmare, I even brought the animal hair attachment but it doesn't work properly and still doesn't remove the hair.

Love mine, I got it when I got my black labradoodle, he doesn't moult but still produces lots of fur tumbleweeds and mud, I use it every day and brings our cream carpet up beautifully as well as cleaning the wooden floors. I have had it since July and only on my third bag so the bags last a long time too, despite the every day hoovering. I would like to have got an upright one as personally find them easier to manouevre but still love it. Much better than my old Dyson!

Boo it hadn't arrived by the time I left work today. I even left the hoovering yesterday so I could get maximum effect today. Amazon tracking just says out for delivery.

I'd be interested to know how it compares to the Henry. I have a Henry that I like a lot but it's not great with hair. Let us know! I'm looking for an upstairs hoover too!

We have a miele tumble dryer and its amazing. I love it. If the hoover is anywhere near the same quality then I reckon you'll love it.

We have a cat and dog (old model) Hoover. Fantastic! Best ever! Enjoy!

So where is the update?

Is the Op too busy vacuuming to let us know or is she weeping into the pillow as the Miele failed to satisfy? ;)

Sorry. I have been busy hoovering it is a good piece of kit and seems to cope better than Henry especially on carpeted areas. My stair carpet looks great. It had a dirty tinge to it before that was obviously trod in dog hair. It now looks several shades lighter. The rug in the lounge is all fluffy again too and hair free for now. (The dc and the dogs have gone to xh this weekend) it's much easier to use on the stairs than Henry.

Downsides are that the turbo brush is extremely loud and the cord is short. With Henry I could plug in and Hoover several rooms with the miele I have to plug in each room.

Henry has gone to a new home. I put him on free cycle and someone collected him yesterday.

I thought the cord was quite long on mine. I plug it in in the dining room and can hoover the whole of the downstairs from there (living room, kitchen, dining room, stairs, hall, playroom, etc). are you fully pulling out the whole cable?

I thought I was. Upstairs is ok as it's not extended so can do the bedrooms and bathrooms but downstairs is extended so if plugged in in the kitchen can only do two rooms then need to unplug and plug in in lounge for playroom lounge and hallway.

It's still better than Henry or dyson though.

We have one of these and let me give you a big piece of advice. When the bag gets full, empty it. Seems stupid but during a week when our daughter had chicken pox we ignored the bright red warning bar in the window on the lid of the vacuum and then one day the power button didn't work. I called Miele custom service and they gave me some schpiel which made sense at the time and I will probably misquote it - it was something to do with pressure building up when the bag is full and it makes something warp in the lid and the contact inside the lid which presses onto the power mechanism gets pulled away just enough so that when you press the big grey button it doesn't reach all the way to be able to turn it on (and....breathe!). It would have cost £90 to get it fixed so we just deal with it, but it seems a bit of bad design - with other vacuums the suction just starts to go when the bag is full, it doesn't knacker the vacuum. Lesson learned!

AFter seeing how good the carpets look after one weekend of hovering them I think the bag must be almost full already. I thought the carpets were clean before, I know different now.

my bedroom carpet is cream again!
