4 times this has happened, and it's really freaking me out now. The chimney is in our bedroom too....aaargh!

Who on earth do I contact to get my chimney capped to stop this happening?

Help!

They're called a bird guard, and a roofer or chimney specialist should be able to fit it. We got a bird guard put on because every spring bluebird chicks fall down our roof, and it turns out they weren't getting in the top (where the guard is) but were nesting under the apex of the roof and squeezing through a hole in the wall, so ask whoever you get to have a look and see if there are any nests there.

God woman get out!!!! move house!!!!!! Can you tell i dont like 'them'

A roofer will charge the earth..... Just look in yellow pages and choose a chimney sweep who is nearest. My little man took the dead birds away, took the nests out of the top and shimmed up the outside on his ladder and put a wire guard over the pot to stop any more getting in... all for £30

I think she's probably sorted it by now since it's 10 years since she posted..,

On my birthday one year myself and family were in the living room chatting and eating cake as you do. Then there was what sounded like the chimney falling apart and loads of soot and stones came tumbling down followed by a big fat pigeon. It landed in the grate and just looked at us. Fil took it outside and it flew away. We laughed about it after but we'd just got back from Holliday that day. If it happened whilst we were away it could have done a lot of damage. When I renewed my house insurance I asked if incidents like this were covered. They said no

Oh bloody hell I just spend ten minutes typing that out lol
