Can you dryclean a polypropolene rug (Ikea)

Does anybody know? I've tried the Ikea website and the drycleaners website but I still don't have an answer. I'd have to lug the thing to the drycleaners in a pushchair - which I don't want to do and then they say they can't clean it Grin !

Dry cleaning isn't usually recommended for polypropolene because the firbres will shrink and melt in the solvent. You'd be better off having it service washed in the laundrette.

polypropylene is very durable, it can be washed with hot water and even bleach. I would have thought a carpet shampoo treatment would do.

Why does it need cleaning?

BTW, I find it is better not to scrub at a carpet with a brush, as it frizzes the fibres. However I have never done that to polypropylene.

I did once wash the carpet from a car boot with a garden hose and flash, after a leaking Worcester Sauce incident, and hung it on the fence to dry.

Thanks for replies. I asked in the drycleaners and they didn't know either, they said to bring it in. They said it might be drycleanable but it might not fit in their machine Hmm.
Tbh I can't see myself faffing about with hot water because we have a small cold house and it would take months to dry out.
Will try carpet shampoo. Didn't know such a thing existed. Is that Shake n Vac?

no, carpet shampoo is a wet treatment, which is immediately sucked off with a special vac. Something like a Rug Doctor that you can hire. If you get one, do the rest of your carpets and upholstery to get your money's worth, you can get a small hand attachment for upholstery.

You said a rug, if it is small enough to throw over a handrail or fence it will dry in a non-rainy day or two.
