How to shift really stubborn watermarks/ scale on shower screen?

I need something really hard cord please!

Have got loads of water marks/ limescale all over a vertical glass shower screen. I've tried scrubbing with Cif, Cillit Bang, Lime Lite- still there.

Anyone got anything else to try? The nastier the better, I'm not needing anything gentle and organic made from orange fumes Grin

No, we had it fitted a couple of years ago. The marks are only on the bits of the screen where water splashes. It's like a fine almost giraffe like print on the glass

Weird
Are you leaving it to work a good long time before scrubbing? If all that's not working, maybe it's actually scratches rather than calcium?

Those silver scourers you get in packs of 3 from Waitrose and other supermarkets work work great on limescale and they don.t scratch. You can also use on marble with no probs. was told this by a plumber. Works on taps etc. they are kind of twisted in a circular ball. hope you know ones i mean. HTH

That Kilrock stuff looks great, have just ordered some on Amazon. Anything that's so toxic it goes on with a brush and fizzes has to be good Grin

asda cheap as chips multi surface cleaner- the one with the green top-its a bit like furniture polish but you can use it to clean glass, simply spray and wipe off with dry e cloth thing! brings it up sparkling and removes all limescale- found by accident after trying all sorts of other expensive cleaners!

FlamingGallah · 01/02/2014 17:01

Thanks mrssnodge....I think my glass must be damaged as NOTHING is shifting the marks. The lidl stuff was brilliant- got limescale off my shower head that soaking in a bucket of HG hadn't. The marks on the shower screen seem impervious to everything alas

it's possible that the surface has become eroded and will not come shiny. I don't know how that happens, but it does.

time to save up for a new door Sad

and possibly a water softener to save future grief.

FlamingGallah · 01/02/2014 19:29

I fear you're right PigletJohn. Really annoying as it's only 5 years old!

Nobody believes me when I say this but the best thing for this problem ( we get it every couple of months) is shampoo. I actually got the tip on here from one if the 'greatest household tip' threads.

Just put a bit of shampoo on a cloth (we use baby shampoo) and give the doors a good clean, then rinse - it gets it all off. DH also got some good results last night with a baby wipe.

I pop some hardcore limescale removing toilet cleaner on a cloth and wipe it on.

Alas it does sound like it's damaged though.

Thanks all, no can't be scratched off. I tried with one of the curly metal scourers mentioned upthread with no joy. Have now tried viakal, Cillit bang, lidl limescale remover (otherwise v impressive), Kilrock caustic gel stuff, curly scrubbers and shampoo!

Think its stuffed unfortunately. Thanks anyway everyone!

Leave viakcal on for 20 mins, did the trick for me!

VeryStressedMum · 12/02/2014 07:18

The same thing happened to my shower doors, nothing would make it shine as it seemed to be scratched into the glass. Luckily the doors needed to be replaced so I now have a squeegee that I use every time I have a shower, although no one else uses it, and the biggest assortment of products and cloths to keep the doors sparkly. Unfortunately replacing the doors may be your only option.

Viakal. Is amazing. Fact.
