Sorry if this has been done before...trying to cut the amount of clothes as I m always behind on doing laundry....so,to the minimalists out there, how many clothes is a reasonable amount for say a 3-4 year old boy?

I would say:
3 x pjs
7 x pants and vests
7 x socks
4 x jeans/trousers
6 x long sleeved tshirts
1 x tracksuit bottoms
4 x jumpers
2 x coats (one very warm, one lighter)

How hard does he wear his clothes? DD some days goes through 2 sets with playing outside etc, she also has to have two changes in her bag for nursery.

Also is he toilet trained at night?

I would have about the same as above but add 2 additional sets of pants and socks. Plus a set of dressier clothes so something with a colour (even if it is a polo or rugby style shirt).

I think it also depends in how you dry the clothes though - on airers / outside / tumble dryer.

We used to dry on airers and DS had to have lots of clothes. Now we have a tumble dryer and it feels like he has too many.

On the airer, another reason why the laundry basket is always overflowing...

I do think that you need more in that case, and it is also affected by how often you do washes, e.g. every day or lots at the weekend.

I found Lakeland's heated airer great, and also having a dehumidifier.
