Budget for a small neighboring hood party

I am thinking of a budget of £100 but accept that it will probably go over. Inviting about 40, not expecting all to turn up. Am planning to buy wine, hire glasses and provide French sticks, pate and soft cheese. Think that I will need some help on the night for those who want teas and coffee. Budget is flexible but want to keep it low key.

It is just a neighbourhood effort and gives everyone a chance to speak to each other so I am hoping that everyone just gels and won't notice the food.

Will get plenty of soft drinks etc.possibly cafetiete or instant? Vegetarians can just have cheese. Haven't sent out the invites yet. Will put7-9pm on them.

If you shop at Tesco they will lend you glasses free. Just ask at Customer Services or whatever it is called.

Allow half a bottle of wine a head. If 40 people turn up, that's 20 bottles of wine - only £5 a bottle.

For non-drinkers at 7 - 9 pm I would also provide soft drinks (sparkling water or elderflower maybe) rather the tea or coffee.

And that's before the food.

Your budget is way off.
