would I be disappointed if I got DH to get 77% cotton/23% polyester sheets from M&S?

says they're easier to iron .. people iron sheets?

they are very much cheaper though

why would you be disappointed? i personally do not iron sheets

podkin · 28/07/2006 15:35

these are 100% cotton and non iron as well . I think they're what I have and they are v nice.

neena28 · 28/07/2006 15:37

I have the ones that podkin linked to and they're lovely and I'm really weirdly fussy about bedlinen!

podkin · 28/07/2006 15:38

I am too - can't abide fancy stuff. I don't iron stuff so it was an added bonus - they are best tumble dried.

mousiemousie · 28/07/2006 15:39

polyester mix is gross and uncivilised

sweatier and not crisp like ironed cotton

Twiglett you need to keep up your standards...since when did any reasonable hotel think polyester mix sheets were OK?

Twiglett · 28/07/2006 15:40

yeah I looked at those the difference for the extra 23% cotton is

single sheet £9.50 goes up to £29.50

5ft sheet goes from £14 to £49.50

hence the pause and reflection .. as I say have always gone for pure cotton before but they're bloody expensive aren't they

why not just get nylon and be done with it or sleep on a bed of straw

Buy them!
I've never bought cotton bedding. I bought a 100% cotton tablecloth though, and it is a nightmare. Even with the iron on full blast and steam gushing out it will not go flat. And it is all stiff and nasty!

I wash the bedding, dry it and put it straight back on the beds! We and the older kids only have one set each that we use. We have cheapie second sets but like the 'best' ones on all the time.

neena28 · 28/07/2006 15:46

I do still iron them though. Just feels better that way. They do still need a bit of a go over or they don't look 100% to me.

Have you tried White company they have a sale on I think?

podkin · 28/07/2006 15:47

nooo - the soft cotton ones are lovely - not stiff at all. Buy the cotton ones. Actually are you sure you've got your prices right - the cotton rich ones are £25 for a single duvet cover and 100% cotton are £29.50 so not much difference as far as I can see.

Kelly1978 · 28/07/2006 15:52

I've just checked mine online and they are 100% cotton! I got thinking about how mcuh they cost are were they really polyester mix and they aren't!
So I've changed my mind - buy cotton!

louismummy · 28/07/2006 16:59

you can get lovely 300 to 400 thread count cotton ones off the internet for less than you saidtwiglett very very nice

katierocket · 28/07/2006 17:14

shame on you twiglett

spidermama · 28/07/2006 17:22

I hate all the poly-mix sheets and quilt covers which are in my cupboard. The only bedding which gives me proper joy and comfort is not only 100% cotton but brilliant quality cotton. Sadly that's only about 10% of my bed linen and I don't have the funds to correct it at present.

So I would say, NO don;t do it.

The thought of ironing sheets in this day and age is absolutely ridiculous.
