I love it already. Only a £20 cheapo one as ive been to'ing and fro'ing for ages about whether it was worth it for ages so thought id try this one and see how i got on.

Little bit horrified at the colour of the cloth pad though which is now soaking in the sink.

This might sound weird but my floor FEELS clean to the touch in a way ive never felt them before. Well cleaner anyway, I'm going to have another go tomorrow and see how much more muck I can get up!

Yep, I agree! Love my cheapo one :)

pinktransit · 16/01/2014 17:14

Where did you get a £20 one??

Costacoffeeplease · 16/01/2014 17:21

IKWYM my floor feels smoother when it's been steamed (terracotta tiles), and the mop is always filthy even if it didn't look too bad

JRmumma · 16/01/2014 17:44

pink its from ASDA, its a Holmes one. It may be on offer or just that cheap im not sure.

Its a bit flimsy and only does the floor and carpet, no fancy attachments but works ok so far!

JR I bought mines last week first time I used it,the cloth was black! Next again day it was no where near as dirty! I love mine tooSmile

Purplehonesty · 17/01/2014 08:47

Can you use them on wooden floors? I have solid oak floors downstairs but worry they might get damaged?

Onefewernow · 17/01/2014 08:51

Best not Purple- wood hates water and I've read it might just warp it.

Purplehonesty · 17/01/2014 08:58

Thank you! I do mop mine with a bucket and mop so they do get wet but wasn't sure if the heat/steam would be too much for them.
Thanks

I have a steam cleaner which I bought for the bathrooms. but It's ok for that but I dont use it on my wooden floor in the hall or even the laminate floor in the kitchen. I'm too worried it'll damage them. I just use mine on tiles and ceramics.

MissMarplesBloomers · 17/01/2014 09:13

I did the same OP & was horrified what came up when I'd only mopped the day before!! I bought a pack of pads from ASDA so I could have a clean one for each room & they were all pretty bad. Now saving up for a more substantial one as its pretty flimsy & I've broken bits of it already!

JRmumma · 17/01/2014 09:21

Ive used mine on laminate as most people seem to and don't have any problems. I'm sure its sealed too so should be ok.

I know your not supposed to but according to the manufacturers you aren't supposed to clean laminate with anything but who would actually just sweep?

Just done my second steam and the mop head is as black as yesterday! How dirty are my floors?!

MissMarplesBloomers · 20/01/2014 09:06

Not sure why JR but maybe repeated heat destroys it? My floors are all various versions of laminate/lino, they all get it. Have decided to do a quick flick with my old mop first to get top layer of grime off then go back & steam mop sigh yes more work but living in the country with this weather & working with & owning dogs I have no hope of a pristine home- just want a clean-ish one!!!

JRmumma · 20/01/2014 10:45

Well a third steam mop produced a slightly less dirty mop head, although i was wondering whether it was taking the colour off of my kitchen laminate as its dark grey slate effect.

I must admit though that since DS was born 5 months ago i have been a bit slap dash with my cleaning so maybe they just were that grubby!
