How do you organise your child's tights?

My dd inheirits clothes from 3 older girls (lucky meSmile) and I have a problem with tights - I can't seem to stop buying tights for her. As a result, she has at least 20 pairs of tights. How do you organise your child's tights? Currently, hers are in a box on a shelf in her wardrobe (ikea pax if that's of help) all jumbled up. When I'm looking for one pair, i have to tip the box out on the bed and then cram them all back into it. There must be a better way?

I dont do this but could yiu habg a coordinating pair up with each dress in her wardrobe?

If skirts are folded in a drawer, fold a pair of tights inside too.

Weelady77 · 14/01/2014 08:51

My dd has 100s of tights too, in her drawer I put pile of school tights then pile of dark everyday tights then pile of light everyday tights but poster above's idea sounds betterSmile

You could hang them over a coathanger base? Like this

madamecake · 14/01/2014 08:57

What about a tie organiser coat hanger? Like this

Ah. At last my sock organisation OCD comes in useful.

We have ikea drawer dividers. I use a long divider section for the tights, and fold them (length ways first, then folded into 1/4 top and bottom, until they are in a folded roll as when purchased), I then arrange the tights along the divider and can see exactly what material and colour the tights are.

Can I come organise your tights for you please?!! Wink

GuernseyTeddy · 14/01/2014 09:07

The same would work in the wardrobe top box. Just fold into bundles, and then arrange by material and colour.

Ooh. How exciting. Feeling the urge to rearrange my underwear drawer now.

Thanks for the marvellous (and very quick) suggestions.
I need to have all the tights visible because some of them go with more than one dress/skirt. Anything hanging won't work for me because we are short on hanging space.
I love love love those Lakeland dividers. We don't have a Lakeland here (Ireland) and their delivery costs are silly but I think I'll ask my pal to get me 2 sets of those when she's next back in England. She really is neglecting her mother. She should pop over to see her more Grin

Cross posted with Guernsey- that's an easy idea that I can do right now. I actually have one of those Ikea dividers but have her socks and knickies in it. I could reorganise...

I love OCD people, it inspires me. Tell us more...What else could we improve on?

I roll each pair around my hand then tuck the end in so they are in a ball. Lob in little drawer divider boxes. She mainly has patterned tights so I can see which pair is which pretty easily.

MissPryde · 14/01/2014 09:20

Similar to Free - I fold tights lengthwise, then roll them tightly from waist to toe... they end up as bundles a bit like loo rolls, so you can stack them side by side in the drawer. You can see them all, they don't get tangled, no need for dividers. Grin

holycowwhatnow · 14/01/2014 09:20

Another great idea, FreeButtonBee. See this is why I love Mumsnet! I asked my sister yesterday how she organised dn's tights and she couldn't understand why I'd do anything other than fling them in a drawer.

Thanks MissPryde.

Right, I'm off upstairs to conquer the tights!

My dd doesn't have too many now, used to have loads. She has a draw for tights only.
Sorry, probably not very helpful.
If you have a larger draw with not much in you can always section off half of it and put them in there.
I think a box in wardrobe is also useful, down by the shoes.
