How to get oil stain off leather shoes?

That's it, really. I collided with a colleague in the kitchen at work and ended up being drenched in olive oil. I think I have managed to save my clothes (fingers crossed) but I did not see the oil on my shoes at the time and did not put washing up liquid on them straight away (which, I think, is what has helped with getting the stains off the clothes). They seem to be very stubborn stains... Sad

My DH got oil spots (engine oil I think) on the very expensive soft tan leather shoes I bought him for his birthday. They looked ruined and I was livid but actually, after a week the oil had completely soaked in and dispersed nicely and was no longer noticeable/at all visible. So leave it a while and see, and if no change take to a cobbler.

That's good news, notone, as I was worrying about having done nothing since Friday night when multiple applications of washing up liquid did nothing for removing the stains.
I am beginning to think that perhaps I should dip them all in oil! Blush

Ha that's an option! Leave it a week but then let the professionals take over I reckon!

And no more soap - you'll just damage the surrounding leather that's not oil soaked...

Thanks, notone. Thanks I am happy to let the professionals deal with this. I was just not sure if they could.
