Condenser Tumble Dryer, what to with the water!!

It seems so wasteful to pour the water away. I use some for ironing water, but any other ideas? Can I use it to flush the loo even though I have an enclosed cistern?

God what a topic, to think once my most burning issues were mascara and hair products.

Pour it down the sink or toilet.

skyeskyeskye · 10/01/2014 10:32

do you have a water butt? although that is probably full with all the rain we have had lately.... I chuck all mine into a bucket and then use it to mop the utility room floor.

ThereIsNoEleventeen · 10/01/2014 13:35

In the summer I use it to water the plants in the garden...which I've just released is really dreadful, because if it is a day when the plants actually need watering, and it is summer time I probably should have the washing on the line Blush.

Lucylouby · 10/01/2014 19:02

You could still use the water to flush the loo. Just tip it into the toilet after you've been, I don't do it, so don't know if it would work, but I imagine it should clear most stuff... I never thought to so anything with the tumble dryer water apart from chuck it down the sink though.

Frontdoorstep · 10/01/2014 19:42

I just empty it down the sink.

youbethemummylion · 10/01/2014 19:46

Unless your on a water meter I dont understand why you wouldnt just put it down the sink. Water by its very nature is always recycled in the end anyway so cant really be wasted.

hmc · 10/01/2014 19:50

No need to make life harder than it is - chuck it down the sink with a clear conscience

KatAndKit · 10/01/2014 19:52

Water house plants with it perhaps? I don't have any so I just empty it down the sink.

GideonKipper · 10/01/2014 20:07

I water the house plants with it, use it in the steam mop and iron and pour any excess down the sink.

MillyMollyMama · 10/01/2014 21:14

My dryer does not collect the water. It is connected to the water outlet drain of the washing machine so it just goes into our soak away water system. Eventually it will find its way to a river.

PigletJohn · 11/01/2014 10:37

Water the houseplants.

I would expect it to be contaminated with fluff and cotton dust so might clog an iron or car battery.

SweetPeaPods · 11/01/2014 10:56

My tumble dryer is in the garage so it's either water plants or down drain.
Dh persuaded me to not add it to car washer fluid

willowstar · 12/01/2014 13:28

I water the few house plants I have with it or the pots at the front door...or throw it away but like you I always feel uncomfortable just doing that.

DameFanny · 12/01/2014 13:30

If I'm washing woollens I'll put it straight into the washing machine, otherwise it goddess down the sink

But now I'm feeling stupid for not thinking to save it for ironing... D'oh!

PigletJohn · 12/01/2014 16:18

it might be good for washing or sponging mirrors and windows. No limescale.

AnnoyingOrange · 12/01/2014 16:22

I put in the sink and wash the cat bowls with it if they need it

Cleanthatroomnow · 12/01/2014 16:26

Why are you saving water? There is no shortage of it in this country. lives in area without meters

Wolfcub · 12/01/2014 16:30

I used to use ours to water the garden

LadyMud · 13/01/2014 20:19

I have a Tefal iron, and the instructions say don't use the water from a tumble drier. But it's designed to use tap water, so others may be different.

However, since getting a water meter, I empty hot water bottles into the washing machine Grin Waste not, want not!

PigletJohn · 14/01/2014 00:11

I think Tefal will be concerned about the risk of cotton dust or fluff clogging the iron
