Live and learn! I got off ebay. Lister never claimed it was from a smoke free home so I can't really complain Hmm

Cos I have nothing to loose, I washed it on 30'. Trouble is, it still stinks.

Any tips to get rid of smoke smells??Don't want to imagine the smell on the baby's clothes/skin/hair

Best thing I have found in these situations is to hang item outside to air. Appreciate that could be difficult in present weather. Air it both ways, inside out and right way round.

Thanks Penny - will give it a go. Mo rain or wind today Grin

i'd chuck some bicarb of soda powder in there, works on most smells, though I've never tried it on smoke smells.

Do you mean that you bought a 2nd hand handbag that has a pink lining and it smells horrible even after washing it in the washing machine ?
Sorry , maybe I'm being dense !
Is this is the case i also recommend hanging out outside inside out to air and using bicarbonate of soda as Working3jobs suggests - always very effective .

Bicarb definiatley the best option I use it weekly on my fridge doors and shelves keeps it nice and clean and fresh smelling,is it possible for you to leave it to soak in fabric conditioner overnight if the problem persists.?

Panadbois · 10/01/2014 15:18

It's been on the line all morning. My nose says it's ok at the moment. Will leave it for a while before going to re-sniff.

Will try the bicarb tonight if it hasn't improved.

Thanking you :-)

dust Pink Lining is a brand, they make changing bags and some other bits iirc Smile

OP we've had to tackle smelly bags in the past, tbh it was just persistence that won out. Every time you do a wash chuck it in the machine, when not in the wash leave it to air - outdoors when possible, in hallway or similar when not. A mix of inside out and normal and also open any zips/pockets and pull them out also. Cigarette smoke eventually goes much quicker than fish or milk, bleurgh so it should be fine.

Thanks delasi , I really am out of touch - never heard of the brand - I suppose not surprising considering DS is now 11 !
