Really stinky drains with kickback

For ages we have been having trouble with the drains on the outside of the house. We have a kitchen window which is about the drain and the bathroom is on top of the kitchen so two windows above the drain. When i flush the toilet no smell but when the water from the sink goes down there is an awful smell of eggs which is stinking out the house. The smell goes in the lower half of the house too. No smell from the sink itself and not slow running. We have had a cover on there and at the moment no cover. I pulled out a carriers bag full of hair and stuff but that has made no difference to the smell either.

There always seems to be half full amount of water in the drain bit. Normal?

Can afford a plumber so need other ideas. Have tried bleach and drain cleaner too but didnt work

ours was blocked with washing powder! it had turned solid, we had to push it out with a wire coat hanger could you do that?

Drains can be difficult. Ours was exactly as you describe... smelly and half full of water all the time. Turned out the actual pipe that carried the water away from the house across the garden had collapsed inside. We had to get a company in to excavate the garden and replace the whole drain to the point where it left our property and became the property of the water company. We claimed the cost off our house buildings insurance.

Didnt think about washing powder. I can put my hand down which i had to do before to get all the stuff out and some of the water went down but not all. Looks grey.

is the water in the outside drain? is so, some water is supposed to be there

our sink smells a bit like this - have you got an u-bend on it? it's a sort of bend in the pipe and it retains a bit of water to stop the smelly drain stuff coming back up. You can usually see it under the sink.

Also, is your dishwasher/washing machine plumbed into the same sink bit?

have you tried using a wire hanger to poke it, that's what we had to do, the powder looked really grey and smelt to high heaven!

We have sometimes had this smell before, but it's comes from the drainage outside.

Dynarod might be your best bet, because they flush it all out.

Lovely job

Putting my hand down was an experiance i would rather forget. It is an outside drain i have emptied the trip trap out but that doesnt help and nothing trapped in there either.
