Tumble dryers

My dryer is driving me mad but I'm not sure if my expectations are too high or if my dryer is useless. I've just unloaded a load of baby grows and vests and they feel as wet as when they went in, how dry would you expect a load that's been in for 1.5 hours to be? Or would you expect it to still need time on a radiator to dry?

If they had been in mine for 1.5 hours they would be hard like cardboard.

Has your heating element gone?

Another thing is,if it is all clogged up with fluff at the back and in the tube that goes to the outside, assuming it is vented, it will take longer to dry. DH pulls ours out and cleans it all out with the Hoover every six months or so.

Good idea re the back vent, I'll give it a go can't think the last time I did it so it must be due!

open it part way through the cycle and see if it is hot inside.

If it has a half-heat button see if that makes any difference (it might go stone cold)

your electricity meter will show if the heater is actually using electricity. The motor uses hardly any.

Is it new or old? ducted or condensing? when did it last work properly? what settings does it have?

My (not old) previous Hotpoint condenser dryer could take 2 hours and the washing would still be hot, wet and creased. My lovely newer Beko one takes 45 mins. Grin
