Help! Have started noticing these on OH and DD's shirts.

I wash at 60. Any ideas how to get rid of them??

Thanks..

A combination of Napisan and/ or BioTex. If that doesn't do the trick try old fashioned soda crystals.

It's the grease/ fat/ skin that needs to be broken down.

Someone far more knowledgable than me will be able to explain it far better.

soak overnight in bio liquid. I sometimes put a load of them in the bath to give me room to swish around!* That way you can wash at a lower temp if you need to.

*note - once the bath is empty of people!

If really grubby a 1-2 hr luke warm soak in diluted soda crystals and a normal wash in the machine should work.

If your machine has got a soak function put the crystals in with your normal washing powder. If the machine has a prewash function select that and put the soda crystals in that section of the powder drawer.

If the marks are ingrained it may not come out first time, but it should improve it and hopefully get better each time you use the soda crystals.

I use a Vanish soap bar, a nail brush & elbow grease! Brings the shirt collars and cuffs up a treat.

Amrapaali · 07/01/2014 15:40

Spray with Vanish stain remover on both sides of the collar and leave for 15 minutes. Wash as usual. May take more than one go...

Ds1's cuffs and collars are filthy despite washing his shirts at 60 (no idea what he's doing as dh's and ds2's are fine). Ds1 gets eczema if I use bio washing stuff - would soda crystals be ok??

I use a pre-wash laundry spray and a best-buy powder (not a liquid).

White cotton stands up to a high temperature wash, poly doesn't.

White shirts stay whitest if only over washed with whites, nothing coloured. Black collar marks are grease from the skin binding the dirt.

I put Fairy Liquid on the grubby parts before washing. Works every time.

Fairy liquid on any dirty areas, no need for specialist products. White vinegar in the fabric conditioner dispenser.
