Should I pay to have my oven and hob cleaned?

How about tumble dryers? Can they be serviced?

Service your dyson and tumble dryer yourself Smile

I think Dyson services are definitely worth it. Parts are usually included and the work is guaranteed for a year so if it goes wrong again, they come back for nothing.

Geckos48 · 05/01/2014 12:42

Or buy a Hoover that doesn't break every 10minutes!

mazzi2fly · 05/01/2014 20:27

I paid for the Dyson service when my Dyson's cable became detached. A courier collected it and dropped it off a few days later. As well as replacing the flex, they replaced the motor & filters, so it was like a new machine!

SauvignonBlanche · 05/01/2014 20:28

We got a new motor with ours.

vitalia · 05/01/2014 20:35

How old is your Dyson? Mine broke at four yrs old and Dyson replaced and fitted the broken part as it was covered under the five yr guarantee.

mrshap · 05/01/2014 21:54

Yes worth it, they came here stripped down replaced everything, it was like a new hoover..although I was told off for mis-treating my hoover.

solosolong · 05/01/2014 21:57

Definitely worth it. Mine was falling apart and they replaced everything and it was like new.

Springcleanish · 05/01/2014 22:00

Our dyson is 12 years old, we had everything except the actual back bit and electric cable replaced for under £80, the engineer reckons we'll get another 5 years out of it now, bargain!

CashmereMouse · 05/01/2014 22:06

£79 for a dyson service??? I paid £15 to have mine serviced three weeks ago!

OP you are being diddled if someone wants that much for a service.

I am west mids btw, and I thought it was a reasonable price for 45min service (no parts included though).

Springcleanish · 05/01/2014 22:11

That's the joy of a dyson service though, everything is included in the £79, so if you suspect it's on it's last legs, well worth it.

CashmereMouse · 06/01/2014 09:54

Yes, I agree it's probably worth paying if you think it's on its last legs. Although I would still probably do a quick tot-up online to work out how. Much various parts cost and then see if it's still cheaper. The company I used sold the parts to you at not much more than cost, so would be a lot cheaper with them.

They were called LAR Homecare in Stafford.

CrazyOldCatLady · 06/01/2014 10:27

We got our 13 year old Dyson serviced a few weeks ago and they replaced everything but the wheels for €90. Bargain : )

Hopasholic · 06/01/2014 10:28

I managed to get the price of the service knocked off a new handheld dyson when I had them out, replaced the motor of my original and the handheld has been a godsend.

NoComet · 06/01/2014 10:32

Unfortunately our Dyson is regularly serviced by DH, he Molly coddles the hateful great heavy thing. I've been hoping for over 10 years it will break.

No such luck!

mirpuppet · 06/01/2014 12:02

For those who have had it done. What parts do they replace? I have chips of plastic off of some of the accessories. The clip that keeps the vacuum together is also chipped.

It is 7 years old and I have never done anything to it (or had any problems except for breaking plastic) but if it could be like new it could be worth 79 pounds.
