Motivation!!!! how to get it

Just wondered how you get motivated to tidy and clean up.

my sister does one big clean a week adn her home is like a show house i am soo !!!

I am a messy person who just can't seem to find enough motivation to do much, i'd rather do other stuff and then panic if someone is visiting rushing round like a loony getting the place done.

What do you do?

Sonnet, I do dusting and polishing about once a month, I only iron the sheets for the twins plus pillow covers for DH and me. Twins sheets are washed every week but ours about once every 3 weeks (more in this hot weather). I get up and start the washing machine at 6am so it is all done by 0900. Anything new has to wait until the next time.

DH takes care of bathroom and downstairs toilet. We both sweep kitchen floor and clean tops as needed throughout the day and I mop both the kitchen and bathroom floor on Sunday evening, after twins have gone to bed.

Your schedule is busy but I would still be able to find time to do me things so maybe you are putting a lot of effort and time into your activities e.g. get the children to do the dusting and polishing on Saturday. Just a thought.

A belated thanks to Speedymama for replying!!
Sorry - forgot to change back
YES! you are right, I am putting in a lot of effort - I have just started flylady, so with the zone work monthly I have managed to reduce the amount of weekly dusting/cleaning ( ie skirting boards etc)I do in every room. I reckoned that once a month "deep clean" per zone means I can zip round quicker normally - IYKWIM.....
You sound so very organised though - I know what you mean about sanity....

I agree with Moondogs suggestions of organisation being the key.
I have a relatively tidy and clean home and do about an hour each day, which means that except for certain jobs it rarely gets bad enough to have to overhaul it. But I am fairly organised.
Go to the thread on "tips for being organised" there's loads on there. It's amazing how much time is wasted looking for things because they're not in the right place, not kept together, etc.
