Hello, Our oven was rubbish and a friend was emigrating and sellling all her stuff. I had always admired her Rangemaster (modern stainless steel range cooker) and jumped at the chance of buying it. I also bought a gorgeous armchair - and sofa and they are fab.

The rangemaster is fab too - but although the outside looked great - I knew it worked as I had eaten at her house and seen her cooking with it - I didnt inspect the inside. We now have the cooker and she is in Australia (I hope she isnt reading this - she wont be - she will be too busy).

The oven is filthy, really filthy - grease on the inside of the doors and all over. I havent got manual but looked up online and it says self-cleining - turn up to high heat and then wipe off dirt etc. Have done this twice - not making any difference. I feel as though the grease inside this oven is a fire hazard. Can I use oven pride? It seems to say on the box that i can't

If not - then is there any magic tricks that can help me - I would like to be able to see into the oven but the doors are pitted with grease on the glass inside so viewing is impossible. HELP!!

Before all these fancy oven cleaners came out I remember my nana cleaning her oven with washing up liquid, she would put a touch in the oven damp a scouring pad and scrub then once it's all white inside she would get a razor blade and scrape the burnt bits and grease away then wash the oven with hot water till the soap was away, maybe that would help if you can't use harsh chemicals!

I would (if I could afford it) get one of those professional oven cleaners to come in and do it for about £50 I believe.

A tip I read on here was to dampen a dishwasher tablet and rub it over the door, this I will be trying later.

The self-cleaning/high heat tip only really applies to the walls of the oven IME, the rest you have to clean yourself. Bought some stoves cleaner for the greasy door on mine and it hasn't made a jot of difference so I wouldn't waste your money on that.

I use my steam mop and put the wire brush nozzle attachment on the end - works a treat!
