Keeping the new floor clean - I am clueless!

We have just had a good quality laminate laid all the way through the downstairs kitchen/diner/living room/hallway. It's the first time I've had laminate and I don't know what's best and easiest to keep it clean - I am under the impression you shouldn't get it too wet by mopping? I am also worried about hoovering as it could scratch?
We have 2 small dogs that leave hairs behind them everywhere they go, it didn't show up so much on the carpet!
Any tips, tricks, gadgets, gizmos etc. greatly appreciated!

Hoovers with brushes can scratch it, I learned that the hard way. I also learned, the same day, the individual sections can be replaced but it's a pain in the arse to do so and the person you ring in tears begging them to come and fix your lovely new floor, will probably swear lots Grin

I used a twisty microfibre mop and Flash for hardfloors. A rubber broom is good bit I like my hoovers, just make sure you have an attachment especially for hardfloors that has no brush bar.

In my old house I had laminate all downstairs I used to Hoover it (at the time I had a Henry) then I would steam mop it everyday and on a Sunday I would mop it with flash Smile

I was hoping there would be a wonder product that would both suck up dirt and clean at the same time Hmm

Do you think a standard (old) Dyson would be OK on the floor?

What about those huge mop/brooms that I remember the dinnerladies running around with at school?! They looked great!

I have one of those dinner lady brooms... Assuming you mean the one that is flat fabric on the bottom? I use that daily to sweep stray cat hair/cat litter/dust/bits. Then I vacuum weekly (especially under furniture where the dust balls seem to gather with wooden floors). Vacuum has never scratched the floor (in fact I hadn't considered that it could)! If your floor is able to be scratched by a vacuum I would be worried about walking on it at all!
I use a normal mop to mope once a week, and whilst I don't flood it with water I still get it quite wet and it is fine

Actually I never seen scratches on my floors and everything got dragged over them skates,football studs etc but my flooring was quite light so maybe never showed up

Whilst mopping isn't my favourite pastime I use it to mop not mope
