ordered a new ironing board from sainsburys . i chose a fairly expensive wooden one as it had a cover on it that matched other stuff i have and well..it just looked nice .
its arrived and , yes , it looks nice and sturdy and well made until you stand it up ! it is actually the most wobbly , heavy , arse of a thing .

do not bother with it ! i am taking it back .

any better suggestions ?

here it is www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/shop/appliances/124024426_tu-wooden-ironing-board-with-cover.html

The minky wide ironing board are fabby, I've had mine at least 10 year and never had to replace cover yet, they sell them in Argos Smile

God I've never saw a wooden ironing board in years lol

this is the best ironing board i have had Unfortunately they have stopped making it now and you can only get it through the Argos outlet on ebay.

I have a wide Brabantia which is height adjustable (and nice and tall, I'm 5ft 10).

I've only just replaced the foam padded layer under the cover after around 12 years of use.

It doesn't wobble and I love it. Still hate ironing though Grin

Had an extra-size board so ancient I've forgotten the make, useful as it adjusted but really heavy. Last week I trapped a finger putting it down, blood everywhere etc. so it had to go. However, I'd recently bought a mini-board for DB, who's short of space, and am now happily using it. There are two small fold-down supports underneath, and it's designed to be used on a work-surface or table then hung up behind a door, etc. Being short, I find it's a perfect height if I pull out a kitchen drawer and lay it on top, it's so light and so easy I'll keep it for myself.

it's a sign
Wink
step away from the iron.
buy only fabrics that don't need ironing (jersey type fabric is great) and embrace strategic drying.

I like an abnormally huge one

these people have a range of less-common stuff.

Some boards now have their own extension socket which can be very handy if your iron will not easily reach the wall socket.

My disabled friend, mother of three swears she couldn't live without her steam press.
