Fridge dilemma

I need some advice. We moved house 6 weeks ago. The new property has a revoltingly hideous integrated fridge-freezer in the revoltingly hideous kitchen. We brought our lovely fridge-freezer with us and it was dumped in the garage on moving day and has remained there, unplugged and with the doors slightly open.

I want to use my lovely fridge-freezer over the Christmas period for storing the wine and foodstuff over-flow. I'm spending today scrubbing it out - it's got rather green and furry in places but I've set to with toothbrush and cotton buds and am nearly finished. My question is, should I now turn the empty fridge freezer on in anticipation of using it over Christmas (bearing in mind it won't be opened again for a few weeks)or should I leave it turned off and propped open until nearer the time? I don't really want to be scraping any more mould off it.

Leave it off, door open and tray of bicarbonate of soda sitting on a shelf, which will absorb any moisture and help with any possible odour.
Switch on somewhere arounf the 18th IMO to ensure its running properly.
Huge note of caution .....how cold does your garage get?
Having had a spare garage fridge for years, I can promise you that if the room temp drops very low the cooling system on the fridge will have issues and you can open the door to discover that the whole contents have been semi frozen despite fridge setting being on 1 or 2.
Which is not good for veg, or salad stuffs and one year totally destroyed my souffles and semi froze the wine Sad

Heater in the garage to keep the fridge warm?!?!?

Our fridge freezer is supposed to have issues below 13 degrees. Which is unfortunate, as our kitchen is very often below 13 degrees, what with there being no radiator in there and all.
