When should I start 'prepping' the baby's room - 5 wks to go!

This is DC2, so pretty much sorted with regards to getting everything.

I was just wondering when I should start washing all the baby wear, prepping the baby's room etc. I washed it and put it away clean after DD but it's been sitting in a ziplock bag since then.

Is now to early to start? Had thought maybe I'd spend an hour or so every time DD is at nursery school to get thing done. Don't want to wash and then leave in a draw for 4 wk but likewise don't want to be running about towards the end getting stuff clean.

Was thinking about cleaning the carpet? Any advice.

Having an ELCS so know my date etc.

What with the domestic mn goddesses do!

Oh, you are nesting HARD Grin

Sounds perfect to me - nothing wrong with leaving them in the drawer for a month. I had times where I picked up a babygro, sniffed it and put it back on because it seemed clean enough Blush

Haha don't feeling like I need to nest at all oddly, just aware that we have Christmas coming up and everything.

We need to get a new mattress, but I was going to leave that until after the new year. Click and collect from JL sort of thing.

I don't think it's too early - 5 weeks go by pretty fast, especially as you've already got DC and you may not run at top speed as those weeks progress!

I don't think sitting in the drawer for 4 weeks would be bad, personally I'd wash it all now and get it out of the way Grin But I remember standing in the kitchen doorway with a towel over my face (avoiding fumes!) instructing DH on how to thoroughly clean the oven at midnight at 38wks...

You know you don't want to be running around - certainly don't want to be tired out prior to birth, and you won't be able to do much immediately after the birth as you'll need your rest, so I say go for it. I wasn't able to get a lot of things ready (sudden house move, everything upside down) before DS came and it really bugged me and I really cut it fine (washed clothes when contractions started, built cot an hour before leaving for the hospital Confused). I was so tired and stressed before DS came and I don't think that helps at an already tiring time.

Likewise you won't need to have tons of stuff ready, newborns don't need much so I would prioritise if you have a list of things you're thinking of - anything clothing, sleeping, pooping and feeding related comes first.

Dh just this weekend helped set up the cot and chest of drawers for his sister and BIL, due their first. Think they are getting the mattress and buggy this week, but have them ordered a while. She is 37 weeks so 35 sounds perfect to start looking through what you have, making a list, ordering anything you need etc.
Good luck

Well dsil had her baby at 34 weeks, so now might be a good idea! Not that I was that organised, luckily all mine were late.

Possible getting a bit ahead of myself.. 6 wks left! Blush

Are you not going to keep your baby in your room until he/she is 6 months old?

daughterofafarmer · 03/12/2013 22:35

The baby will start in our room for at least the first few months however everything will be in 'their' room! Not going to fill my chest of drawers with babygrows and nappies Wink
