Come talk to me about Lakeland

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 03/12/2013 07:25

I've seen some christmas decorations and because there is no Lakeland thats close to me and I'm too cheap to pay p&p I thought I would save money Grin by spending another £18. So come and tell me about your favourite Lakeland buys!

Poach pods for eggs

Clutterbugsmum · 03/12/2013 07:29

Isn't it cheaper to pay postage then spend another £18.

DorisShutt · 03/12/2013 07:30

Ahem Blush

Mango liquorice. It's lush!

Clutterbugsmum · 03/12/2013 07:31

Sorry didn't finish, I like the cake cases and the different flavoured oil (lemon, Orange etc) for baking.

Celery55 · 03/12/2013 08:07

Rice paper

And how do I start a new thread? I get taken to a 'biscuit' page when I try...

Facebaffle · 03/12/2013 08:10

HG mould spray. It's fantastic.

Sticky stuff remover. It gets rid of allsorts.

magimedi · 03/12/2013 08:46

Their own make freezer bags are fantastic. Very strong & will survive many uses (with a wash in between).

delasi · 03/12/2013 09:47

Their foil and cling film is great. Sounds simple but they really are good!

Do you bake? Their loaf tin and cake tins are the best I own, very strong and good quality non-stick.

I believe they also stock Kilrock descaler, if you get any limescale then it is by far the best descaler. The regular stuff can go in machines, kettles, use it on shower heads... everything.

The dish drying mat (diamond drying mat I think) is great too, I have two as I have a tiny draining board and no dishwasher.

Oh, and the flexible plastic laundry basket. It is the best I've ever owned. I know it's only laundry, but it just makes everything easier.

I like Lakeland Blush

CMOTDibbler · 03/12/2013 09:49

The oils - esp the orange are fantastic if you bake, Just a drop really lifts the flavour of cakes or biscuits.
Their bin bags are well worth the extra, and I never buy any other foil or clingfilm.

TinselBankWadger · 03/12/2013 18:05

I'm currently coveting the spatula with in built thermometer. I MUST have one (as of about 3 days ago). I have chocs to make for gifts you see...

I was happy to have found replacement seals for my kilner jars there, but then I found the much closer Dunelm mill has them too (for cheaper I'm pretty sure).

Ruprekt · 03/12/2013 18:09

The hibiscus flowers in syrup to serve with prosecco are lush! SmileSmile

ParsleyTheLioness · 03/12/2013 18:09

Toaster bags, very thick you can even do chips in them. Those covers for milk jugs etc, that are a kind of lace with beads on...sporks, that are a knife, fork and spoon convo, good for buffets (I think they call them something else though. There are some lush things among the chocolates and Crimbo food also.

BlueSkySunnyDay · 03/12/2013 18:16

Well its more than you need to spend but I swear by the silverwood multisize foldaway cake pan here

It means I always have a tin the size I need as its adjustable - I use it for cakes & flapjacks and have also used it without the dividers, with clingfilm over the top, when I have had to carry food in the car to a party

Ive had it for years, its getting a bit bent and sorry for itself now but I would definately replace it if it fell apart tomorrow.

The only thing I would say is you need to get into the habit of pulling it out of the oven by the base rather than the sides...I definately had a few Blush moments before I got used to that!!!

BikeRunSki · 03/12/2013 19:32

The silicone baking tins/cake tins etc are brilliant.

ouryve · 03/12/2013 19:38

The silverwood multi size tin is excellent - and even better if you buy the extra dividers for it.

The two things LL introduced us to and which we couldn't do without (though have now found you can get them much cheaper than LL at the PTFE shop) are Magic oven liner and Magic non-stick liner, which we've also used in frying pans as it's astonishingly nonstick. We used to get cook n' crisp pizza and oven shelf mesh from LL too but now only the PTFE shop (www.theptfeshop.com) has them any more.

Full of stuff you cant live without, but nothing you really need?

Maraki · 04/12/2013 21:07

Cling film (the best)
Microwave saucepan (perfect for baked beans or a few veg)
Plastic mini whisk (you can make scrambled eggs without scratching your non stick pan)
Stainless steel cleaning spray
Mop with microfibre cloth for wet moping and white hairy cloth for dusting. Telescopic, fits into every corner, very light, fits under all my furniture and all the way under my bed. Cleans better than vileda.
Kettle descaler sachets (your kettle will be like new without any chemicals)
Cupcake cases (they don't get oily stains)
Mini sugar carrot cake decorations for carrot cakes

HopeClearwater · 05/12/2013 12:50

The oven liner. It's amazing.

BlueSkySunnyDay · 05/12/2013 13:56

Mooycow - I guess thats the case if you dont cook much but from my point of view, as someone who bakes 2 or 3 times a week, they are good quality products on the whole.

I nearly started a thread some time ago just to talk about the Silverwood pan as I love it so much - I cant believe anyone who bakes a lot doesnt have one (you DO have to line it properly but that isnt rocket science, it very quickly becomes second nature)

The only other thing which I use as much is the Pampered Chef mini muffin pan which I use at least once a week sometimes more - I make batches and keep half out for lunch boxes and freeze the other half.

moonbells · 05/12/2013 14:11

I hope you lot realise I'm now £34 poorer... WinkBlush

Loving the christmas cake decoration stuff this year (but have so far managed to resist). You cannot live without the Pineapple corer/chopper. If they still do it, the pastry blender is also a must for incredibly short crust. Even got a slow cooker from there, not to mention the tagine.

They have some lovely "affordable" hamper type things too for presents.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 05/12/2013 14:30

I've just bought the whirly cake pop moulds. I'm so gullible!
