Don't know if this is the right place to post,

My dd has decided she wants lego for Xmas, she wants lego friends we've bought her a few big sets and she has a couple of the small packs, I know when Xmas comes and it's built she will want to keep it built,so how do I store it I've no idea how big it is when built, would rather have it out the way when she's not playing with it!

We use trofast. bricks organised by type (car parts, house parts, brick size, mini figures etc) in the drawers. Some models that don't tend to get broken up like the space shuttle sit on the top.

Lego brick boxes or just clear plastic ones for storage - sorted into brick colours for easy building with smaller ones for lots of small pieces, we have clear ones in a little unit.
These are underneath a table with a lego board stuck to the top - we use blue tack on a cheap ikea one- for building.
4 unit ikea expedit with display models on top shelves and hide the broken ones in the bottom two with doors, awaiting rebuilding.

Really Useful Boxes are great for storing made up Lego as they come in all sorts of sizes and stack neatly on top of each other.

We use really useful boxes:
one large on for things that are made up/parts that need sorting/large base plates (stored under bed)
12 x insert trays (4x12 compartment + 8 x 6 compartment) for storing bricks by type (stored on shelves in a billy bookcase)
1 x plastic concertina wallet thing for storing all the instructions.

We have a long one of these for lego (lego fanatics), partly because they like it sorted, but they put completed projects on top, (and a few trunks) which they have fusions on to use as seats or tables.

Mine like taking stage by stage pictures of construction, so they can run it as a slide show, but it means that as they have a record of the project, they are happier to break it up and make something else.

Thank you all, I'm swithering towards the ikea trofast as she could store her mh dolls in it too also colouring stuff and I could get rid of her 4 drawer storage thing to make room Smile
