Works from home in a small space.

Anyone seen / got one?

Will watch with interest. I'm about to start WFH in a room that has to allow access through to an exterior door for a wheelchair, so the centre of the room has to be kept empty for that. I'd actually quite like some kind of home office consultant type to come out and tell me what stuff I need to be comfortable - Christ knows the advice we get at work is generally pretty rubbish but at least there are options there.

I wonder if anyone reading this thread knows if such a service exists.

Yes, Ikea has a fantastic one. I am on my second in 9 years (only because the first is in a different country to me)

Patrik Swivel chair

Thanks Quint that looks good but needs to be armless - I should have said. Otherwise it takes up all floor space even when not in use.

Ah, try this one Originally bought for ds1, but dh is using it. It does not take as much space.

I use the kids ikea one that comes either in pink or white. Not sure of the name but it was about £30, has circular holes in the back. If you want I can find out and pm you. It's worth pointing out I am 5ft9 and a size 22 and I find it very sturdy and comfortable despite being for kids.

Liveinthepresent · 28/11/2013 22:16

Thanks both -these look good. Not sure why I didn't think of Ikea apart from emotional scars from previous flat packs
jinglebells do you use yours for full days? I would to to think I could get one for that price but he does need to be able to last all day.

DH and I work from home and we have Snille (!) from ikea. It's very comfortable and extremely cheap (£13) - we were prepared to spend much more but honestly found these ones the best for us. I work about 8 hrs a day and DH about 6. No problems so far. I do have a small cushion on mine

starkadder · 28/11/2013 22:23

Ps DH is 6'4 and I am 5'8. Neither of us particularly fat or thin iykwim.

tribpot · 28/11/2013 22:46

I have to say, the Snille does look good - good shape for the lower back?

jinglebellsarecoming · 28/11/2013 22:51

Hi yes I use it all day, I do take regular breaks though not because of the chair but I like to pace when I think!

Liveinthepresent · 29/11/2013 22:41

starkadder snille does look great thanks so much - I honestly would have assumed it was too cheap to be comfortable!
I was going to treat DH for Christmas but at that price I will have to find something else as well.

Thank you

13 quid chair = bargain Christmas present :)

Does anyone use a foot rest or wrist support thingy? I'm really struggling with my wrists and hands at the moment.

starkadder · 01/12/2013 20:03

Hi! Sorry, late back. But yes, exactly, it s lightly moulded to provide support for lower back so is really quite comfortable. I slouch badly and I had a "proper" office chair before - £10 to me from a second hand shop but presumably expensive when new - and it was much worse. And at £13, you can't go far wrong! I do not work for ikea btw....Smile

Suggestions on compact yet usable desks that can accommodate a large laptop plus a bit of writing space too?
