We need new bedding.

I want something white with a bit of pattern/ detail in white too.

I'm really tempted to get fancy stuff but am a bit Shock at the price.

Is it worth the extra money, if so can you enlighten me. :)

FWIW our bedding is faded, ripped and older than both the dc combined! Blush

Personally, I think it's worth it. I don't look to change my bedding supply particularly often, I'm happy to have 2 sets for our bed to last us a good few years. I think that it's always worth investing what you can in essential items like your bed, you use it so much and it makes a difference to how much you enjoy it and also how relaxed it can make you feel.

The higher thread counts ime are so much softer, much more pleasant to sleep in, makes everything much more luxurious Grin But it's good to be aware of how high - for me, somewhere in the 400-600TC range is good. Although you can get higher TCs than that, whilst being very soft they can also be very thick making them quite hard to wash and dry (harder still to iron, if you like ironed bed linen).

Also bear in mind that you can often get some good deals. I know the House of Fraser sales can do some good prices on bed linen (eg. approx. £50 for a double set). D&PW is always on offer and I've seen it recommended on here a few times, but I've not bought anything from there myself yet!.

Remember to go all high TC - given that sets are just usually a duvet cover and 2 pillow cases, I find that a lot of people forget about the bed sheet and extra pillow cases if they have more than 2 pillows on the bed. You don't want a buttery soft duvet and a bog standard bed sheet!

Go to tk maxx/homesense.

They have high thread count bedding for cheaper prices.

John Lewis has some lovely high thread count sheets. I bought some in the sale a few years ago and it's still lovely and smooth to the touch. I can't stand the way cheap, thin sheets go all bunched and wrinkled on the bed.

Definately worth it. They wash much better, they dont lose their quality feel, they seem to sit better on the bed too and overall they look fantastic even after dozens of washes. DPW often have good offers, sometimes the linen warehouse will also have good deals and also try qvc's range where you can try them for 30 days and if you dont like them you can return them even if you have washed and slept in them.

Higher than 600 is considered 'luxury' so go for something around that level.

I also think they are worth it. Second TKMaxx for some real bargains.
