Wooden work tops

I know it's high maintenance and am prepared to treat regularly but I really like my new work top.

My question is, what oil should I use? What are the advantages / disadvantages? Is there a stain I can use to make it darker? (Not a problem if not)

I love our wooded work tops too and just use behandla (sp) oil from ikea.

What kind of wood? Are they already treated or bare wood? Did the supplier recommend anything

Best IMO, but not used as much as it should be by the trade, is Osmo

Any oil will darken the wood a bit and bring out the grain.

It's oak, it has had about 3 coats of oil before it was delivered.

Just interested in what people think is the best / worst product to use and why

I couldn't find behandla in ikea last time I needed some so bought Danish oil from local hardware shop which I think is just the same stuff actually. I sand down with sandpaper going from rougher to smoother grades until most if the marks/scratches have gone then apply the oil with kitchen roll.

Stand back and admire Smile
