Cleaning hard water limescale off marble kitchen counters

What would you recommend for removing hard water limescale (the water is very hard where we live) off marble kitchen counter tops? It seems we have a film on the draining board and around the taps which I can't get rid of even with a lot of elbow grease and specialized marble polish etc. Domestic cleaning tips needed please!

Have you tried something like bar keepers friend and a non scratch scourer pad? Vinegar, even?
Granite is porous though, so don't let stuff sit on it for long.

Steam cleaner? With Viacal or similar.

Three - I have the answer! Very fine wire wool. I know its hard to believe but I have black granite and had the exact same problem and hated the dull, filmy look around the taps. My SIL told me to try it and I have now used wire wool for years. Comes up shiny and smooth all the time, no scratches, instantly gets rid of the little watermark circles. And its quick and easy. Try it, it will work.

Please, please, please don't use any kind of chemical limescale treatment on marble. Limescale and marble are, chemically, the same stuff... What eats through one will eat through the other.

Mechanically, though, quite different. I think buckle has the right of it: a gentle scrub with some fine wire wool should do it. Then train your family to dry up any water splashes.
