Suggestions for electrical heaters?

Can you suggest electrical heater which actually heat the room? I have got a small heater which does not blow out air and it doesn't seem to heat the room very much, it just heats up and if i'm sitting very close it gives a little heat off.

I heard these new dyson heaters are good. Any suggestions?

Have a big conservatory and use an electric oil fired radiator (2/2.5kw). Takes a while to heat up but fine once it does. Am thinking of getting a cheap fan heater to get some instant heat while waiting for it to heat up. Maybe your heater isn't big enough (as in kw) for the room.

Ditto above - oil filled electric radiators are safe ways to heat a room, get at least 1.5kw as a bare minimum, they're not too pricey and I recommend getting one without a timer as it's usually the timer which breaks and ruins the whole thing, whereas without it just works fine. If you want instant heat then a fan is your best bet - I recommend a larger one, sized as a standard heater rather than one of those very small toaster-sized ones.

Fwiw I live in a property without central heating and no gas. We only have fan/convector heaters (standard sized), ie convectors with a 'boost' function using a fan, and we also have a towel radiator in the bathroom and a slim radiator in the hallway. By far we rely on the the fan/convectors, we put one on in the living room or bedroom for a couple of minutes when it feels cool, the room warms up very quickly and then it's off again for a good few hours........................

I prefer oil-filled radiators because they are safer, silent and do not blow dust around or incinerate spiders.

If your room is cold the heater power is too low. They are available up to about 3kW. Look for one with high/low switched output and a rotary thermostat.

I agree about the timer.

If you are in a shed or conservatory the insulation is so bad that it will always be cold in winter unless you can afford to throw vast amounts of energy in.

we bought a brilliant one from aldi last year, keep an eye out there as it was about £20 cheaper than I had been looking at. And nice glossy black not weird hospital beige /grey that a lot of them are Smile
