I have got someone coming round to measure the window in ds1's room for a new unit today so thought i should wipe round the frame a bit.
I was shocked at just how grubby it was and i realised i couldn't remember the last time i'd done itso it's all been scrubbed and the curtains taken down and put in the washer.
I was wondering how often other people do these kinds of jobs? am i really a terrible slut who keeps a filthy house?

I am a slattern of gargantuan proportions - really! I only do the 'essentials' and sometimes get a bit behind with even those! My window frames are filthy but I don't really care

alexsmum · 11/07/2006 10:25

oh thank god it's not just me! felt a bit yucky!

I am a really bad housewife. I know in my head that you need to clean everything on a regular basis, but am still surprised to see things get dirty. I mean, why! Why do things get dirty when I frankly have much more interesting things to do with my time?!

alexsmum · 11/07/2006 10:37

andhow colditz? just how do they get dirty?

i don't understand.( befuddled expression)

Our house is clean, dh cleans it but it is untidy as we have to much junk to fit in our small house.

Dh cleans the windows evry week, he's a cleanaholic , if i had my way it would get done once a year because i hate cleaning.

I do not know why my skirting boards were that colour before I cleaned them. We neber touch th skirting boards, where does it come from?

Kitchen mess I can understand - it comes from people making food. I understand why we have to change bedding, and wash up, and hoover, and clean the bathroom... but I don't get why things we never use get dirty, and how?

Lucky you marne!

Am a bit of both to be honest.

Read all the housekeeper book and watch the programmes but do as little as poss in my own home tbh

mmmm , was just thinking this myself as I mopped my kitchen floor and ignored the corners and by the washing machine. My cupboards need pulling out but i am so afraid of spiders its the only thing that puts me off doing it. I really need to get into the edges of the carpets too but what with me bad back its so hard to pull furniture around and get to the nitty gritty.

alexsmum · 11/07/2006 10:49

absolutely colditz.bathroom-no problem , it's where we clean ourselves so it gets dirty.but door frames? and skirting boards?
i had to hoover the ceiling yesterday because it looked like miss haversham's room-now how did that happen?

Yes, yes Miss Havershams house. Those critters come in every day I swear. I am always hoovering the ceilings, they drive me mad.
