Help! Mould on all my bags and shoes, what can I do?!

I hate this house Angry

We move this weekend, current house is damp and cold, I've just opened all my stored shoes etc and they are covered in mould. It's horrible.

I'm so glad we're getting out of here.

How do I clean them? Just to make things even more interesting I'm mildly allergic and very likely to come out in hives as soon as I disturb them.

Thanks

Grey fluffy mould just wipes off, as I was happy to discover the day I was day before I need my ball dress.

I have boots and a bag covered in the sodding stuff to clean Angry

We have bought a dehumidifier, don't know if it will help.

But I certainly join you in saying fuck off mold.

It's bloody miserable stuff, star, this house is full of it!

Hopefully it'll all come off cleanly. I don't want to be bringing it with us to the new place.

Should come off, but some of it stains :( I had to have two pairs of shoes out down when we moved from our old house. I still miss them.

PUT down, not out down. I swear to ducking god I am never buying another Apple device.

No! I cannot put my Destroy boots down Shock

Say it's not so!

So... Baby wipe, just water or something else?

You need to get into the bags and shoes, not just the surface. Luckily the best cures are vinegar and sunlight!

We had experts in due to a huge problem last year and their advice was very similar to this.

Once you've dealt with the initial mould it is also very important to get into other damp reducing habits like keeping bathroom doors shut, always using fans when cooking and washing and drying laundry outdoors whenever possible - a dehumidifier helps but usually isn't enough by itself. It really is horrible, good luck!

Thanks sunny, will the vinegar damage the leather or is it a necessary evil either way?

We found it didn't, but it might depend on the way it's made! If something is very valuable you could maybe try a patch test and if it doesn't work, send it off to be professionally cleaned - which apparently also works but is very expensive!

Really quick using babywipes sprayed with vinegar on leather shoes, then plain water to finish and will polish when dry. Thanks for info.
