have done my research and trailed the archives before i order one with my 40th birthday money anything you'd wished you'd known or that NEED to know

Im going for a 3200xl as it'll meet our needs for a family of four but am tempted by the 4200xl but its more expensive and not as compact but i cn always run it twice /empty it?

thanks

We are a family of 4 and I scratch cook most nights. The 3200 meets all my needs and fits lovely on the work top. I would definitely recommend it.

Not at all. Not as gorgeous as a KitchenAid, but much more useful!

I don't have the extra attachments. I have 2 blades for slicing and grating. Personally I would get more use out of the dicing attachments than the juicing ones so I'd add them on.

Where are you ordering from?

Yes, took it back after a few weeks and got a refund because had problems with the dough blade. Previously had 30year old one from freecycle that I loved but was small and wanted to upgrade. Saved up for ages and was really disappointed with it!

Now have a Ken and love it!

I got a 4200xl and wish I'd bought the 4200.

I don't find the wider feed tube very useful and it makes more washing-up - it's quite hard to explain if you haven't had a good look at the machine, but basically, the top of the 4200 just consist of 2 parts, the lid with the feed tube and the pusher to push the food down the tube.

Because of the wider feed tube, the 4200xl has a wider pusher with a hole through it into which you fit the normal pusher. The wider pusher has lots of fins and grooves to keep it rigid and when I wash it up, there always seem to drops of water or bits of food lurking somewhere.

The wider feed tube means that you can theoretically slice a larger potato or tomato without cutting it up first, but for safety reasons, the wide pusher must be quite a long way down the tube before the machine will start. As a result, you may still have to cut up your potato or tomato if it comes too far up the tube, and you certainly won't get more than one large potato/tomato in at once.

Hope that makes sense and that you will be happy with your machine, whichever one you decide to buy!

I have a 3200 (don't think its an xl). I love it. :)
It does everything I want for a family of 4. Admittedly my dc are still little so not full portions for them but as I usually cook double quantities it manages fine. It had a small footprint too which is good. :)

Mine came with slicing/ grating and julienne disks. Never used the Julienne but the others are very useful.
