How do you get them white again? They´re not mine so I have to be careful with them.. So far, did a wooly wash, then a normal (synethics) wash. They look cleaner but are still very grey.. Any solutions?

Soak them in a strong solution of OxiClean - the powder, not the spray.

What´s Oxiclean? A bleach?

you can buy a product especially for nets - can't remember what it's called but would be with other soap powder I guess!

Net whitener, Miltons Sterilising tablets and drying them in direct sunlight are some of the things I have heard of.

I feel such a saddo admitting to knowing this but I'm a bit obsessive about white things staying white.
Dylon Fabric Care Super White net curtains is the stuff you neet(usually found with all the dyes & colour run removers). Don't put the nets in the wash (if you put them in a machine or don't fold them they just stick together & crease like mad & are a bugger to iron) just fold them and soak in the sink with some washing powder then squeeze out & rinse repeatedly(still folded) until the water comes relatively clean. Then use the dylon stuff as directed for hand washing & drip dry on the washing line - voila - no ironing needed and sparkly nets. ...am going to run off to hide my embarassment now

Don't use ordinary chlorine bleach if poss, as it weakens the fabric. Oxiclean is an oxygen-based bleach, and it's much gentler on the fabric. I've had mixed results with the Dylon stuff - some curtains came out lovely, others it just didn't seem to affect at all. But it didn't appear to do them any harm.

I think that when you've used any oxygen-based bleach you must wash the curtaisn again in ordinary soap or detergent before you dry them, as the sunlight has some effect on the residues, can't remember what though.

All these products are ususally to be found on the laundry detergent aisle, in the section for special treatments.
