If you don't have the heating on during the day, how cold does it get in your house and what do you wear?

"Just put a jumper on"

In principle I agree, but I'm already wearing cotton long-sleeve top, with a 100% wool jumper over, jeans and woollen socks.

It's 14C in here.

Heating is going on!

A lot depends on the insulation of your house.

Before having cavity wall insulation, if I came home at lunchtime in winter, it was cold.

Afterwards, it was noticeably warm, even though the heat had been off for 4 or 5 hours.

Quite apart from the cost saving.

You may have solid walls or some other obstacle, so top up the loft insulation.

It also isn't all that cold here yet, as I'm only a mile and a half from the beach. Higher ground is probably colder. We went out to see fireworks and dd2 had vest, polo neck top and a jumper, with leggings over tights. She was warm enough not to want a coat on. So not frosty yet, although the wind today made it feel colder.

Had the thermostat on at 16 degrees today and it felt too warm tbh. Will shift it down to 15.

Turned the heating on yesterday. Ahhhhh. Only a couple of hours morning and evening, but what a difference! We don't even have it on very high, had to turn the thermostats right down this morning.

We have thermometers upstairs and downstairs, it's 17C right now and perfect. Even with the heating off during the day the temperature did not drop below 16. Amazing what a difference a couple of degrees makes.

Still wearing my woolies! Dh was at home today, wearing less than me, and radiating warmth like a 6'3" hot water bottle.

Toasty warm in furry onesie and fluffy slipper boots. I've started switching the heating off in th evening too because DH and kids don't feel the cold as much as I do and I'm too warm.

For extra benefit - kids are asking for more cuddles because I'm like a teddy bear. Smile
