Why isn't my clean washing smelling of anything anymore?

I normally use Comfort blue fabric softener as like the smell. Recently I've noticed that my clean washing just doesn't smell of anything, can't smell the comfort at all. In fact the other day I'm sure some newly washed things actually smelt horrible, like a bit musty!

What should I do to get the fresh smell back?

Do you have a cold or something else your sense of smell is off? Otherwise, wash your stuff on a higher heat to kill off any residual bacteria and try again.

This happens to me constantly so the thing I do is.. every now and then put your soap powder inside of a empty washing machine and put it on a boil wash this kills the bacteria ect then you will get your nice smell back another thing is when your washing machine is not in use leave the door open a little bit to air it out :)

do you do maintenance washes on your machine? clean out the drawer and clean off any build up on the roof of the drawer slot?

I tend to chuck a load of soda crystals in the drum and put it on a hot was once a month or so to clear out any muck/build up. Check there's nothing in the filter and whatnot.

Can I ask does the maintenance wash have to be emptyfor it to work?
Seems wasteful, could I chuck in some tea towels and dishcloths to make the most of doing a 90 wash?

you could chuck towels in if you want. It is just that a really hot wash would damage some fabrics so you wouldnt put normal clothing in.

aye i tend to just stick towels in or cloths/tea towels.. give them a good boiling.
