How to get rid of cooking smells?

I never realised how bad dinner smells were in my house til dcs started evening activities and i come back in and the smell hits me at the front door. Most aren't unpleasant but i would rather they werent settling into my soft furnjshings all the same.

So i open the kitchen window and keep the door closed into the living room but it still seeps through.

Are there any great deodorisers or candles i can use?

Lakeland have just brought one out. It's agel in container, smells very pleasant and has made a difference in my kitchen.

Price's used to make a Chef's Candle in a tin, which really worked, but any candle will help.

extractor cooker hood. It creates suction which prevents the fumes drifting around the house. Also sucks and traps the greasy particles which otherwise settle in the kitchen and smell.

I lived in a house which had no extractor fan & the smell was quite hard to get rid off. I mentioned this to my Nan who told me to cut an onion in half an place the two pieces at either side of the kitchen. Sounds mad but it absorbed the smell, stops it travelling into the fabric & keeps germs at bay ( apparently) then just squirt a bit of air freshener. Particularly good after cooking fish. Also second the above tips.
